Hyun-Jung Park

Hyun-Jung Park, born in 1990 in Incheon, Republic of Korea, began playing the violin at the age of seven and pursued performance studies through art high school and university, performing with various orchestras. Her passion gradually shifted from performing to the craftsmanship behind the instrument, leading her to study violin making.  In 2011 she enrolled at the Istituto Stradivari in Cremona, Italy, the historic center of violin making. As a student, she gained early recognition by winning the Silver Prize in the Young Luthier category at the A.N.L.A.I. Competition in 2015 and later a Bronze Medal at the 8th International Competition of Sesto Fiorentino.  After completing the five-year violin-making program, she expanded her expertise with a one-year bow-making course at Academia Cremonensis. After that, she joined Amorim Fine Violins in Cremona, where she specializes in crafting replicas and antique-style violins.  Alongside her workshop activities, she continues to build her solo career as a luthier. Most recently, she received international recognition at the 17th Triennale International Violinmaking Competition in 2024, winning both the Best Varnish Award and the Artistic and Constructional Gold Medal for her modern-style violin.
