Alex Moro

Bow Maker

Alex Moro is a bow maker living in Port Townsend, Washington state where he spent many years working on historic wooden boats. His appreciation for nautical design and fine detail led him to bow making and eventually a formal training with Christopher Dickson in 2020. He then studied with Ole Kanestrom and received guidance from Charles Espey. During this period he developed an appreciation for old bows, particularly the ingenuity and raw expression found in makers like Francois Tourte, Persoit, and Pajeot.

Using the finest wood, Alex works with great precision to release the utmost potential in every bow. He believes this care translates directly into the musician’s hand, exuding confidence. Additionally, he draws artistic inspiration from the beauty and grace of pelagic birds.

After hours, you might find Alex sipping wine to the tune of a good opera while his family makes dinner together.
